18 Jul What is the Work Triangle?
When designing your new kitchen space, there is an important concept to consider – the work triangle. The work triangle is the location of the range, refrigerator and sink, in reference to one another. They need to be close, but not too close, to one another.
The work triangle geometrically represents efficiency in the kitchen. You are able to easily access the different appliances, as well as the sink, with ease. The concept was developed in the 1940’s, as part of time-motion studies done by Frederick Taylor. Although the scientific-management process, referred to as Taylorism, was largely defunct as an engineering practice by the 1930’s, its impact on kitchen design has endured.
While the work triangle is an important consideration when designing your kitchen remodel, there are certainly others. We at Keystone Remodeling are committed to helping you design a beautiful and functional space that you will love.
